So you’ve just started playing and aren’t sure which characters are good? Well, you’re in luck, as that’s exactly what our Edge Mech Ascent tier list is here to help with. In this very guide, we rank all of the characters from S tier to D tier, with S being best and D being worst. That way, you can focus on filling out your party with S and A tiers to ensure that you perform well, skipping the B-D tiers. We’ll also include a description of the tiers so you know what they actually mean.

Edge Mech Ascent is an idle RPG that challenges you to put together a party of powerful heroes, then head out into the arena to, hopefully, win battles. The world is an intriguing combination of fantasy and sci-fi, with each character being of a variety of different races.

You can learn more about it on the official site. We also recommend checking out our Brown Dust 2 tier list, Ever Legion tier list, and Flash Party tier list.

Edge Mech Ascent Tier List

Last updated on April 26.

Before we move onto the tier list proper, here’s a description of how our tiering system works so that you can make sense of it.

What Do Our Tiers Mean?

Here’s a brief explanation of each of our tiers:

  • S Tier: Characters in this tier are the absolute best that the game has to offer. You should prioritise unlocking these and increasing their power. One of these can carry you through the entire game, and a full party will make most of the endgame content trivial – provided you focus on growing their power.
  • A Tier: If your collection is lacking in S tiers, A tiers are great for filling gaps. These characters are still great in their own right, but they just lack a little something when you compare them to an S tier. Use them when you need to, but drop them when you can.
  • B Tier: During the early phases of the game, you’ll likely rely on a party of a single S tier and a bunch of B tiers. These characters are quite easy to get, and are solid, if unremarkable. Definitely swap them out for A tiers and S tiers, but don’t be ashamed to use them if you need to.
  • C Tier: This is when we get into ‘bad character’ territory. C tiers are, much like D tiers, some of the worst characters in the game, but they often have niche uses. They might be really strong in a particular game mode, or during a certain phase of the game. Take a close look at their skills and judge accordingly.
  • D Tier: Characters in this tier are simply never worth using. They’re the worst characters in the game, suffering from severe balance issues, and will underperform at all points in any modes. Don’t use them if you can avoid it.

S Tier

God tier characters. Try and reroll for one at the beginning as they will power you through the game, then create a party out of them at endgame.

  • Arthur
  • Freya
  • Gabril
  • Hakutaku
  • Jingchu
  • Nawa
  • Nidhogg
  • Niyue
  • Wild Pansy

A Tier

Solid characters that are great for filling gaps in your party when you don’t have enough S tiers.

  • Change
  • Elizabeth
  • Gan and Mo
  • Jayati
  • Jin
  • Mushan
  • Nieyin
  • Oracle
  • Tiger Boy
  • Varona

B Tier

These characters start strong but fade later on. Don’t be ashamed to use them, but do swap them out as you unlock S and A tiers.

  • Dao Chan
  • Hako
  • Joy
  • Larix
  • Mikounoko
  • Pi Xiu
  • Russell
  • Teng

C Tier

In certain game modes, or at the beginning, characters in this tier can excel. Mostly, they’re useless though.

  • Diviner
  • Nekomata
  • Niya
  • Noah
  • Spiked Tail
  • Yi

D Tier

Never use D tiers unless you can’t avoid it. They’re awful at all game modes, and at all phases of the game.

  • Cai Yan
  • Celeste
  • Demon King
  • Michael
  • Mira
  • Platelets

Edge Mech Ascent Tier List FAQ

Still unsure about our tier list? Got questions about Edge Mech Ascent in general? Hopefully our tier list can help!

What’s A Tier List?

We should probably have answered this question at the beginning, eh? A tier list is, quite simply, a list of all of the characters in a specific game ranked from best to worst. In our case, S is the best characters with D being the worst, and A, B, and C filling the gaps.

The purpose of a tier list is to help you determine which characters to use at all stages of the game. We try and make our tier list as useful as possible by explaining our tier system.

For example, there are instances where certain characters are excellent during the beginning of a game, but fade later on. Or, they could be good at a certain game mode. We’ll always try and make this clear.

How Did We Select Our Edge Mech Ascent Tier List?

We used a number of different sources when selecting our Edge Mech Ascent tier list, but, primarily, we judge based on our personal experience with the game. As a result, it is bound to be quite a subjective list, but there’s no getting around that.

To determine the rankings, we both experiment with the characters in the game (if unlocked), as well as theory-craft based on skill descriptions and raw statistics. That’s why you’ll see our tier list change so much when a game first launches, as we’re in the testing phase.

It’s also worth noting that we do scour communities, like Reddit, for community feedback. If the general consensus is that a specific character is strong or weak, we will reflect that in our tier list. That way, it’s got a certain degree of objectivity.

We’ll wrap this section up by reminding you that tier lists are subjective by nature. Your experience may vary completely to ours, so take it with a pinch of salt.

When Do We Update Our Edge Mech Ascent Tier List?

You can expect to see an update to our Edge Mech Ascent tier list whenever a new character is introduced. It might take us a while to test the character for ourselves though, so expect a brief delay.

We also update the list whenever a big balance patch hits, as this will throw the meta out the window. Again, there may be a brief delay as we experiment with the changes and update our rankings.

When many of us think of Solitaire we think of the default game that came bundled for free with generations of Windows operating systems.

But that’s just one variant of this ancient card-based pastime. There are hundreds more.

One of them – arguably the least well-known – is called Pyramid Solitaire, and you can play it for free on pyramidsolitaire.com.

But before you do, here’s a bit of background.

Pyramid Solitaire has been around for centuries, appearing as long ago as 1808 in a book you’ve probably never read called “Neue Königliche L’Hombre”.

The version that appeared in that volume, however, is completely different from the one we play today. Pyramid in its current form first appeared in a 1949 book by Albert Hodges called “The Complete Book of Solitaire and Patience Games”.

As we all know, the many variants of Solitaire didn’t really come into their own until the advent of Windows 3.0, when Microsoft decided to include a free version played with a mouse.

It turns out that the inconvenience of having to carry cards around with you and shuffle them between deals was really holding Solitaire back.

So how do you play Pyramid Solitaire

Like Klondike, it uses a standard deck of 52 cards, 28 of which are dealt face-up into a pyramid shape, with seven cards along the bottom and one at the top. The other 24 cards go in a face-up pile.

The aim is to clear all of the cards from the table by making pairs that add up to 13 – for example, a 7 and a 6. You can only use a card in a pair if it’s completely exposed, and if you run out of pairs in the main deal you can pick a card from the stack of leftovers.

A King in Pyramid Solitaire is worth 13, a Queen is worth 12, a Jack is worth 11, and an Ace is worth 1.

And that’s it. Pyramid Solitaire is a fairly straightforward game, but, like all good Solitaire variants, it has hidden depths.

League of Angels: Pact, the popular browser-based MMORPG from Game Hollywood, has just added a new angel to its lineup ahead of the imminent launch of the game’s mobile spinoff.

The latest new angel in League of Angels: Pact is called Deloris, and this is her backstory.

It’s the year 4000, and Sapphire has grown into a highly advanced society powered by magic and technology. But magic is a resource-hungry commodity, so the brightest minds in Sapphire strike out into the unknown to source some more.

Commander Deloris is the scion of a military family. She leads the first interstellar fleet tasked with exploring the universe in search of magical energy and undiscovered wildlife.

In her absence, however, Sapphire comes under attack by the Dark Legion, so Deloris returns with her army to defend her homeland.

Dramatic stuff, but let’s get down to brass tacks. Deloris’s Echo of Nature skill deals 400% ATK + 800,000 damage to a single target and reduces its DEF by 2% for three seconds.

Music Baptism, meanwhile, is a skill that kicks in when all the deployed Angels are Agility type, reducing the Ultimate Skill Damage they receive by 6%. Plus, when an Angel is attacked there’s a 10% chance that all of the deployed Angels will get a 1.4% boost to their ATK.

Finally, Deloris’s Rhythm skill gives normal attacks an 8% chance of healing characters by 40 HP and increasing their DEF by 2% for three seconds.

All in all, a pretty solid addition to the team.

Now let’s turn to the impending mobile version of League of Angels: Pact, which is currently in pre-registration ahead of its April 20th release.

Naturally, tapping that ‘pre-register’ button will net you some rewards, including a Diamond Chest, 100 Legendary Shards, ten Normal Summon Orbs, 1,000 Angel Essence, and that all-important early access.

You can pre-register for League of Angels: Pact here, or you can play it for free right now on Game Hollywood Games.

If you’ve been paying close attention to the App Store over the last few years you’ll know that player1games is one of the most interesting developers on the scene, with a library of fun and accessible games spanning a variety of genres.

What you may not know, however, is that player1games has big plans.

The execution of those plans is already underway, with several of the studio’s most recognizable titles – including The Linguist, The Linguist: Word Craft, and the two Monkey Swingers games – making the leap from iOS to Android.

This is still very much an ongoing project, and player1games aims to bring its entire library to the Google Play Store to boot.

We thought this would be a good moment to take a quick look at a couple of the games that have already crossed over, the ones that are in the process of crossing over, and the studio’s plans for the future.

Let’s start at the beginning. Player1games is perhaps best known for The Linguist and The Linguist: Word Craft. Both games that are a lot more interesting than the likes of Wordle.

These immaculate – and completely different – word games are available on both mobile platforms, and between them they offer a variety of different gameplay types, from filling in crossword-style grids to picking out words in a Boggle-esque jumble of letters.

Both games are easy to pick up but difficult to master, with hidden depths in terms of multipliers, scoring strategies, and so on. They change visually along with the seasons too, with specific words triggering special effects too. Pretty nifty.

While The Linguist is a relatively meditative experience, with a blend of straightforward and cryptic puzzle types and a meditative garden to tend between play sessions, The Linguist: Word Craft is a fast-paced experience built on brisk three-minute rounds.

It has daily puzzles, too, along with sharing options, a host of power-ups, and a clever vertical stacking mechanic that sees you gradually clearing grid squares from the board.

The Linguist: Word Craft gets new themes all the time, along with hidden words and visual effects matching those themes. It’s a big, expansive word game, and potentially the basis of a whole new word game series.

In fact, player1games is actively working on multiple new word games based on the Linguist brand.

You heard it here first.

Player1games’s other big brand is its Mathletix series of educational titles for kids. In case you’ve never come across them before, the Mathletix games are simple, colorful educational apps designed to help children learn the basics of arithmetic.

There are several titles already available – including Mathletix Addition, Mathletix Subtraction, Mathletix Multiplication, and the recently released Mathletix Division – and there are plenty more in the pipeline.

In fact, the next title in the series is just weeks away, and will help youngsters to learn how to tell the time.

Plus, player1games is planning to roll out an update for all of the existing Mathletix titles containing a fun new game type called Mathketball. Keep an eye out for that one over the coming weeks.

Finally, there’s a whole new game in the works called Music Blast. Already available in a limited number of territories, Music Blast is a fun match-three game with a musical theme, plenty of exciting visual effects, and a fun selection of stages to work your way through.

Look out for Music Blast on your local Google Play Store or App Store in the coming weeks. Just check out player1games on Google Play and the App Store.

It’s not often that a developer takes a published game back to the drawing board, but that’s exactly what indie studio Gammes has done with BallDog!, the canine casual title for Android.

In case you missed its first incarnation, BallDog! is a physics-based game that sees you trying to propel a circular dog as far as you can after launching it from a giant catapult.

BallDog! is a fun, simple, and accessible slice of casual gaming goodness, but it arrived with a few niggling problems. Some of these were graphical, some were performance-based, and were to do with how the game was monetized.

They all had to go.

So Gammes set to work making a few essential changes, most notably removing microtransactions from the in-game store. From now on, you’ll only be able to buy skins and launcher upgrades with Dog Cookies, making the experience both more wholesome and more challenging.

But the changes go much deeper than that, with tweaks to the performance, menu layouts, aspect ratios, a new tutorial, and more.

The result is, well, BallDog!

Your goal in BallDog! is to make the game’s canine protagonist, go as far as possible. To do this you first need to launch him from a catapult, before extending his run with taps on the screen to create waves.

During each run you’ll encounter enemies who are trying to stop you in your tracks, and power-ups to help you survive the game’s many pitfalls and obstacles.

These include Tennis Balls, which give you a shield for soaking up three hits, Dog Food, which destroys enemies for a short time, and Steak, which gives you a second chance when you touch the ground or lose all three lives.

Then there are those launcher upgrades, such as Bones, Fire, and Sphere, each giving you initial advantages designed to help you climb the all-important leaderboard.

To check out BallDog! in its new and improved form, head to the Google Play Store to download the game for free right now.

Some games like to set the scene, forcing you to sit through introductory animations or reams of narrative backstory.

Awaken Legends isn’t one of those games. This slick, colorful free-to-play idle-RPG from Webzen gets right down to business. Even the home screen is a battle.

It also lets you unlock the vast majority of its features, modes, and areas within a couple of hours of booting it up for the first time. This isn’t a game that’s out to give you a hard time. It wants you to relax.

That’s not to say that Awaken Legends is simplistic. Far from it. There’s a ton of detail if you want to go looking, including a full biography for each of the game’s 50+ heroes in the Westland Annals.

And the Royal City and Council areas are bustling with different places to go. We’ll get into all that later. First, let’s take a look at the main event: combat.

Fighting Fit

True to form, Awaken Legends prioritizes simplicity and accessibility in its battles, which come one after another in the main campaign until you either lose or reach a milestone.

Before each battle begins you get to pick your formation from a selection of six. Once you’ve picked a formation, you can arrange your units within it by dragging them with your finger, the aim being to match them against the enemies in their path.

Units fall into different factions, including Human, Elf, Cyborg, Orc, Nogoth, Gifted, and Brandon. Then there are the classes: Ranger, Tank, Support, Mage, Warrior, and Assassin. All of which gives battles a significant degree of tactical depth, for an idle-RPG.

You can even take manual control of battles, if you like, but they’re set to both autoplay and x2 speed by default, in recognition of the fact that that’s how most people are likely to play Awaken Legends.

Between bouts you get to do all the usual free-to-play RPG busywork. That means leveling up and evolving your heroes to increase their attributes, equipping any suitable gear that’s come into your possession, enhancing your gear, and so on.

You’ll also summon new heroes at the Royal City, in batches of one or ten, dismiss the ones you don’t need and promote the ones you like at the Divine Revelation building, and generally continue with the upkeep and expansion of your little army.

Accessible Gacha Gameplay

For the uninitiated, even a relatively simple gacha-RPG like this can seem overwhelmingly complex, with all its currencies, items, and arcade activities like alchemy, research, magic production, and grade resets.

But Awaken Legends keeps everything accessible by letting you auto-arrange pretty much everything.

You can lift the hood and get involved with the game’s inner workings if you like. Or you can just follow the red notification dots, tap “auto” every chance you get, and let the loot roll in.

It’s probably fair to say that the players topping the table in the Spire of Glory and dominating the PvP arena are the ones who take a deep dive, but you can still have a lot of fun in the shallow end.

Awaken Legends is all about gratification, and it achieves this partly by having an abundance of stuff to keep you busy.

A Bustling Gameworld

There are two main areas: Royal City and Council. In the former you’ll find your Guild HQ, a summoning temple, the Altar, the Spire of Glory, the Arena, Divine Revelation, and more.

The Council area, meanwhile, houses the Alchemy Atelier, the Town Hall, the Magic Factory, the Workshop, and so on.

Then there’s the Adventure screen, consisting of a series of battles that sit apart from the main campaign, allowing you to hoover up loot when the going gets tough elsewhere. This mode also lets you claim Treasures – boosts that improve your odds in the next stage.

Booting up Awaken Legends is always a treat, with plenty of rewards to claim, heroes to summon, and upgrades to apply. Even the home screen plays host to a never-ending battle, showering you with loot whether you’re playing or not.

For players at the casual end of the spectrum and newcomers to the genre in particular, it’s a straight slam dunk. Webzen has come up with an idle game that looks solid, gives you plenty to do, and showers you with shiny loot.

But even if you’re an old hand at gacha-RPGs on mobile, there’s plenty in here to keep you engaged.

Swiss cloud storage company pCloud has long been considered the best alternative to Dropbox.

And It’s just cemented that status with the release of a new password manager called pCloud Pass.

Founded in 2013, pCloud is one of the highly regarded cloud storage solutions on the market.

This is, of course, partly down to the quality of the product. pCloud is based in Switzerland, which has some of the toughest data protection laws in the world.

It stores that data in highly secure, certified data centers in the EU and the US. And it protects it during the transfer from your device with TLS/SSL encryption.

You can even subscribe for a crypto service with client-side encryption, meaning that nobody except you can ever see your private data.

Generous Pricing

pCloud’s popularity is also down to its generous pricing. For instance, you can pick up a lifetime of premium access to pCloud Pass across unlimited devices for just $149, or a monthly payment of $2.99.

But, as far as we’re concerned, the main reason for pCloud’s preeminent place among cloud storage platforms is the close attention it pays to the behavior and needs of its customers.

pCloud Pass is just the latest example of this consumer-friendly approach.

This cutting edge new service basically gives you permission to forget those countless passwords you’re expected to have at your fingertips at all times.

pCloud Pass generates highly secure passwords on your behalf using a bespoke password generator. This lets you access your passwords with either a single Master Password or biometric information.

Not only that, but you can also use pCloud Pass to autofill all of your login details when you sign-in to stuff online.

Plus, pCloud Pass has a couple of neat features in the pipeline, including support for password sharing. That means you’ll still be able to share your Netflix and Spotify accounts, even in your new hyper-secure regime.

pCloud Pass will even let you store digital copies of important documents like your passport, Covid certificate, driver’s license, and so on.

Head here to check out pCloud Pass for free right now.
