Let’s hatch some dragons and go rebuild the world, shall we?
Usually when you’re ready to release a new mobile game, you do the 21st-century equivalent of shouting it from the rooftops. Some people do prefer a stealthier approach though, which is why we virtually stumbled across Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon on the Canadian App Store. It’s a spin-off from the Dragons of Atlantis online game, and it’s getting ready to spread its wings and fly to iOS devices worldwide.
Of course, the secretive nature of this still-in-beta game means that details are limited, but we do know that the story involves the rebuilding of Atlantis (probably this one and not this one). Quests will guide you in certain tasks that you may find beneficial: things like constructing buildings that provide resources and bonuses; researching new technologies; and training troops to raise an army.
That army is necessary because it’s a competitive game where players can attack each other. Alliances can be formed to take advantage of the whole “strength in numbers” thing, and given the track record of similar titles, joining one will probably be a necessity rather than a luxury. A dedicated Alliance chat channel will help coordinate things within your group.
But enough about all of that. You want to know about the dragons, right? Kabam says the scaly beasts will be 3D, fully interactive sorts that you can breed and raise before outfitting them with powerful Dragon Armor. It doesn’t say anything about the dragons bequeathing their stuff to you, so we’re going to assume the game is using the word “heirs” in a more figurative sense.
Dragons of Atlantis: Heirs of the Dragon should be expanding out of Canada soon, so get ready to hatch one of those suckers and enjoy it in all of its retina display-optimized glory.
